Four STFC ITC coaches put on the sessions accompanied by the Shrewsbury Town Ladies team who took time out of their preparation for this Sunday’s Women’s FA Cup 1st Round Qualifying match away to Coundon Court watched to oversee and offer encouragement to the young girls.
Last year the Development Centre had just 20 participants but with the combined success of the Women’s National side at this summer’s World Cup along with Shrewsbury Ladies FC’s own league promotion, football excitement has certainly picked up across Shropshire.
The AGDC allows young girls to represent Shrewsbury Town Football Club as well as continuing to represent their grass root Saturday League clubs.
Over 60 girls, ranging from under-9s to under-16ss turned out for the first of two talent identification sessions being held to help develop the female football talent around Shropshire.
Shrewsbury Town in the Community have relaunched their Advanced Girls Development Centre at Shrewsbury College on Wednesday evening.
