“The charity footgolf day promises to be a great day for all.

“We are playing at a wonderful facility at The Shropshire Golf Course, with all the money being raised helping our children and young people with disabilities.

“We have had great fundraising success earlier this season with the disability sponsored walk which people may have seen before the Gillingham game in November, alongside the mammoth task that Jade Hibbert is setting herself with her 21 half marathons for the disability programmes this year.”

Shrewsbury Town striker Andy Mangan, who will be part of the charity footgolf day, said: "I've seen it on videos and professionals playing it and it seems like a really fun sport to do.

"I've actually been told that it's one of the fastest-growing sports.

"I like a game of golf, I wouldn't say I'm great though - my handicap is either 16 or 14.

"The footgolf day is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and raise money and awareness for disabilites."
Aiden Wassell, Shrewsbury Town in the Community’s health and inclusion officer, said:

The 18 holes at The Shropshire Golf Course will provide a test to all those taking part but will more importantly be lots of fun for all participants involved.

Footgolf is one of the fastest-growing sports in the country. The game is the same as golf but footballs, which the players must kick into the hole, are used as opposed to golf balls.

This could be anything from new equipment to covering the cost of facility hire.

The funds raised from the charity footgolf day will be used on improving the provision of Shrewsbury Town in the Community’s disability sessions.

The winning four-ball will be the team that score the lowest score collectively.
