Abu Ogogo post Sunderland

Midfielder looks back on the EFL Cup clash

Shrewsbury Town midfielder Abu Ogogo admitted he was disappointed not to get more out of the game after a spirited effort.
Town held out for over 80 minutes but were beaten late on by an Adnan Januzai strike.
Ogogo believes that Town were unlucky to lose.
“Very disappointing. I thought we did well tonight against a Premiership team,” said Abs.
“They were holding the ball in the corner for the last couple of minutes, so it shows how well we did. Disappointing with the goal, but the boys can take confidence from that.
“We tried to hold out to get extra time, but that was a great strike by Januzai.
“First half we did okay, but maybe could have kept the ball a bit better. But, we’ve done much better in the second half, so it’s disappointing to lose.
Abu admitted that it was a difficult test against good opposition, but is hoping to take the positives.
“The boys can take confidence from that, playing against Premiership players and a good Premiership team, so hopefully we can take that performance and the belief into Saturday’s game,” said Ogogo.
“When you play against Premiership teams and good players they make the pitch big so it does feel big, but we expected that.
“They’re a bit sharper, a bit clever. The first touch is a bit better and that’s obviously why they’re playing at the levels that they are. So, that’s where we aspire to be.”
It was Abu’s first 90 minutes of the season, but he was pleased to come through it and is ready whenever the Gaffer calls on him.
“You can do as much training as you want, but you get your fitness from playing games. It was good to get 90 minutes under my belt.
“I’ve been training hard waiting for my chance, but when the Gaffer named the team and said I was playing I was buzzing to play here against Sunderland.
“The Gaffers going to rotate the squad so everyone’s going to get their chance eventually. You’ve just got to make sure you take it when you do get it.
“I was tired in that game. I did a lot of work off the ball, so I was tired, but it was good to get 90 minutes under my belt.”
