Jayson Leutwiler Pre Fleetwood Town

2 December 2016

Town number one ready for FA Cup test

Shrewsbury Town’s Number One Jayson Leutwiler is hoping that Town can get back to winning ways when they take on Fleetwood in the FA Cup.

Town are looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to tomorrow’s visitors less than two weeks ago.

Jayson, now a Candadian international, started by speaking about his international experience.

“It was a very good experience,” Jayson told the Press.

“I really enjoyed my week there. We had one friendly and a few training sessions and it was just a great experience and I really enjoyed every moment.

“It was a long journey to go over there, but it was a great moment for me and my family. I was very excited when I arrived, although it was tough to get into the time changes, but once you did it was really enjoyable.

“I hope it’s just the start for me. I just wanted to enjoy the week and we will see what the future holds.”

When Jayson returned from international duty he found himself out of the side, but he has battled his way back and is looking to get back to winning ways.

“It doesn’t really matter who comes here we just want to win that game,” said Jayson.

“It was over a week ago now that we lost in Fleetwood and I think we just need to get a win no matter who is coming here.

“They are a decent side. I think in League One or League Two everyone can beat everyone. Everyone is tough to beat, but we are going to try and win the game.

“I’m happy with my form. I’m really happy to be back playing, but it’s not just about me, it’s a team performance and I think everyone’s standards are getting better.”

Since Leutwiler joined the club he has been involved in some big cup clashes and he is relishing the opportunity of getting through to the third round with a win this weekend.

“It’s not a relief to be in the FA Cup,” Jayson continued.

“I think we should take it as an opportunity to carry on, try to play well, try to get a result and try to get some confidence for the league as well.

“It’s going to be a good game and we really need to go into it with a good attitude and try to win the game.

“I really hope that we get a good club if we get through and that will be an amazing experience like the last two seasons.”
