Defender Joins League Two Side On Permanent Deal

"Last season he was a big part of the squad but we just felt the squad had to evolve and change and we wanted to move forward with the players that are in the first team at the minute.

Ellis featured 12 times for Shrewsbury in all competitions this season and was a regular in the Town side which won promotion from League Two last season.

The 27-year-old has been on loan at the Sky Bet League 2 side since October and has now completed a permanent move to the Cumbrian outfit.

Shrewsbury Town defender Mark Ellis has signed for Carlisle United on a permanent deal.
