Emirates FA Cup on TV and online

Can Shrewsbury spring a cup surprise over inconsistent Cardiff?

It’s been a busy week of transfer activity for Shrewsbury Town manager Micky Mellon, and S4C presenter Dylan Ebenezer thinks that the club’s new signings could help them spring an FA Cup on Championship side Cardiff City.

Town travel to South Wales for their Emirates FA Cup third round tie this Sunday (10 January), with S4C bringing live coverage from the Cardiff City Stadium, from 5.35pm (kick off 6pm). Joining Dylan in the studio will be Wales assistant coach Osian Roberts and ex-Wales international Owain Tudur Jones.

This will be the first ever FA Cup meeting between the two clubs. Cardiff  head into the match on the back on a 1-0 home victory over Championship opponents Blackburn Rovers last weekend, while the Shrews suffered a 7-1 thumping at Chesterfield in their last League One outing.  However, Ebenezer believes that these results will have no bearing on the outcome of this cup tie.

Dylan Ebenezer added: “Cardiff are not consistent and of course, Shrewsbury have a chance because it’s a cup game.

“They’re visiting a bigger club, so that’s bound to raise their game and after conceding seven in their last league match, they will be determined to strike back.

“Playing in the cup will lift the pressure from their shoulders, so it could be the perfect situation for Shrewsbury to play Cardiff.

“A few players have left Shrewsbury, but a few old faces have come back in recently and they will want to prove themselves. Every round is financially important for clubs at this standard and every game brings in more money, so a cup run could be huge for Shrewsbury.”

S4C is available in Wales on Sky 104; Freeview 4; Virgin TV 166; Freesat 104. And across the UK on Sky 134; Freesat 120; Virgin TV 166. Also online at s4c.cymru, tvcatchup.com, TVPlayer.com, YouView and BBC iPlayer.
