Liam Lawrence has joined Bristol Rovers on a permanent dealTown skipper Liam Lawrence has joined promotion chasing Bristol Rovers on a permanent deal. Lawro travelled down the Sky Bet League 2 club today and completed the paperwork that sees him make the move.
Lawrence played a big part in Town’s promotion last season and has also played his part in this season’s campaign. He hasn’t been a regular starter in recent weeks and this alerted a number of clubs.
It’s a move that will allow Lawrence to get regular first team football and one that allows manager Micky Mellon to continue to shake his squad up;”Bristol Rovers asked about the availability of Liam and as he’s not playing regularly at the moment.
“We put it to Liam and he wanted to speak to Rovers and after that has decided to go and join them.
“It’s no secret that he’s one of our higher earners so it frees up some funds for me to try and strengthen the group.
“Liam has been great during his time here and I would like to thank him for being part of what we have achieved.
“He’s at the age where he needs to be playing regular football and this move will hopefully give him that chance.”
Everyone at Shrewsbury Town wish Liam well in the next chapter of his career and thank him for his work and dedication during his time at the club.
