Micky Mellon On FA Cup Win Over Sheffield Wednesday

30 January 2016

Manager Ecstatic After Dramatic Late Victory

"I am just going to enjoy it and see who we get. I will sit there and hopefully we will get one of the big boys and give the fans a great day out."

When asked who he would like to face in the next round, Micky said: "I always get butterflies watching the FA cup draw because I feel that magic the competition has.

"We didn’t panic when we went a goal down and we believed. It was fantastic to get the winner, I am not sure where all the injury time came from but we are delighted anyway!

"One thing we changed is we got a good lead up to this game. We had a great game plan and all the lads stuck to it.

"We were great - the opposite of what we have been like in other games because we have been a packet of revels this season.

"The spirit of the side was great and that has never been an issue. To see them all celebrating at the end is fantastic and makes it all worth it.

"This town loves its football and to have this Club involved in games like this and playing big teams like Sheffield Wednesday is where we should be and we are delighted to be able to give the fans that.

"I think it was a terrific day for the Football Club," said Micky.

And Micky was over the moon following a memorable day for the Club.

A 97th-minute winner from defender Jack Grimmer booked Town's place in the Fifth Round Proper for the first time since 1991.

Manager Micky Mellon could not hide his delight following Shrewsbury Town's dramatic Emirates FA Cup victory over Sheffield Wednesday.
