Striker To Remain With Town Until End Of Season
Vassell will be cup-tied for Sunday's Emirates FA Cup trip to Cardiff City."I want to try and add as much pace as I possibly can to that frontline so we can make more of a dent in League One back-fours with the individuals who have that valuable commodity called pace," said Micky.
"We're still trying to bring some more new bodies into the building.
"It was something we were going to do in January anyway.
"It's not a knee-jerk reaction to a poor result at the weekend.
"It was always part of the plan when we got to January that we were going to look at things and try to improve them.
"If you look at the Crewe (away) and Sheffield United (away) performances in particular, people will see the types of performances that we're and wanting.
"With the players we're bringing in now I want to build on that team.
"We'll continue to try and bring in those targets that help us achieve that."
With strikers James Collins and Tyrone Barnett joining Northampton Town and Southend United on loan respectively, Micky is pleased to have added more firepower to his frontline and is continuing to look at ways to strengthen his squad.
"He's a lad that I've known since his non-league days," said Micky.
"He was very sought after when he was at Bishop's Stortford and when I was in non-league myself I was very aware of him.
"I watched his progress when he went to Peterborough.
"He's got a very good scoring pedigree and he's the right type of player that I feel we're going to need alongside Andy Mangan, Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro and Scott Vernon.
"I believe that we have a really good addition to the group."
And Micky believes the young striker is another good edition to the Shrewsbury squad.
Vassell, who was previously a youth player at Norwich City and Brentford, gained years of experience in non-league football before signing for Peterborough in 2013.
The 22-year-old, who has appeared seven times for the Posh this season, has been on loan at Sky Bet League 2 side Dagenham & Redbridge since early November.
Shrewsbury Town can confirm the signing of striker Kyle Vassell on loan from Peterborough United until the end of the season.
