Zak Whitbread On Burton Albion Clash

22 January 2016

Defender Feels Work Rate Will Be Key To Result

"Without the work rate, you can’t make a statement on the game and you can’t get control," said Whitbread.

"So first and foremost, we have got to work hard to keep ourselves in the game.

"That’s when our football improves but first and foremost, you have to improve the work rate."

Whitbread insists Town must be in the game from the first minute until the last, and that could be the missing link with Shrewsbury’s recent form.

"They (Burton) areup there for a reason," said Whitbread.

"The coaching staff have done their homework and we have been working on it, and we really need to step up the consistency of performances.

"There is no bigger game than against Burton, they are a hard working side and that’s what we need to get back to, we need to work harder than them and get back on track."

And Whitbread believes Shrewsbury will have to work a lot harder than the Brewers to pick up a positive result on Saturday.

Town take on the Sky Bet League 1 leaders at the Pirelli Stadium at the weekend (3pm kick-off) looking to bounce back from the home defeat to Barnsley.

Defender Zak Whitbread wants Shrewsbury Town to solve their inconsistency before the Burton Albion game on Saturday afternoon.
