Adam El-Abd Post Birmingham

20 July 2016

Defender happy to get minutes under his belt against Blues

New signing Adam El-Abd got his first run out in a Town shirt during the second half of the pre-season win over Birmingham City.

He got 30 minutes game time out on the Greenhous Meadow as Micky Mellon gave a run out to all his available players.

Speaking after the game Adam was happy to start to get his match minutes under his belt.

"It was enjoyable and I enjoyed being out there again”, said Adam.

“The boys moved the ball around really well on a really nice pitch and that made it a really good game.

“It was nice to win the game but obviously it’s not really about winning games during pre-season.”

He joined Town last Friday so has had a few days to get used to the new surrounding of the Greenhous Meadow.  He was asked for his first impressions on his new surroundings in Shropshire.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge, I’m looking forward to it and the signs are promising”, he added.

“Training has been of a good tempo and it seems a really good dressing room to be part of.

“I’ve walked into a dressing room where the spirit seems really good and I’m looking forward to the season ahead.”

The focus now returns to the training pitch as Town prepare for the visit to Solihull Moors on Saturday and the next pre-season game.  The squad is coming together with competition in all areas and can only be good for the upcoming season.

“The competition is there and it’s healthy if we want to be competing at the right end of the league”, said Adam.

“Hopefully we all can play a big part sometime during the season to make sure we win more games than we lose.”
