Preview of tonights pre-season game and match info

Tonight we entertain Birmingham City of the Championship in our second pre-match friendly at Greenhouse Meadow. The Blues had a pretty decent season 2015/6 finishing tenth, the same as the season before and with exactly the same amount of points. They also appointed Gary Rowett as manager last season, somebody Town fans may remember from our encounters with his Burton team a couple of seasons ago, a team Rowett will meet in the Championship this season.

So far this season, City have played four friendlies including two which were behind closed doors. All four of those friendlies have been against clubs below League two level and they have won three times but lost a home game against Kidderminster six days ago.

The Blues main transfer target so far has been midfielder Robert Tesche who they signed following his release by Nottingham Forest.

Prediction
Always feels a little odd to try and guess the result of a pre-season match, the score is almost the least relevant part of our run in to League One. Cardiff looked fresher than we did on Saturday but they had already played one friendly and were out to impress new boss Paul Trollope who had not long returned from international duty with Wales. Hopefully we will look a little fresher as the team-building process progresses but again, we are up against an opponent from a division and a half above us based on last year’s positions.  As far as I have seen we've made no new signings since we played Cardiff but we may see Adam El-Abd as he works toward full match fitness.
Score wise, I've rolled some dice and it’s going to be a 2-2 draw!
