Town Draw With Wolves

Mangan and Barnett on target for Town

Town made the short trip over to the Sir Jack Hayward Training Ground to take on Wolves in a behind closed doors friendly.

The players have been back for the pre-season training programme and this was the first chance for Micky Mellon and his staff to see their side in competitive action.  Town took all available players with them to get some game minutes under their belts.

The first half saw Town line-up with Jayson Leutwiler, Joe Riley, Olly Lancashire, Ryan McGivern, Junior Brown, Ian Black, Gary Deegan, Shaun Whalley, Louis Dodds, Joe O’Brien and AJ Leith-Smith.  The formation was 4-2-3-1 with Whalley and O'Brien out on the wings.

It was Wolves though who were in front at the break after James Henry twice beat Leutwiler in the Town goal.

The second half saw changes with Callum Burton, Mat Sadler, Richie Wellens, Abu Ogogo, Antoni Sarcevic, Tyrone Barnett and Andy Mangan coming on at the break, and Dom Smith, Ethan Jones and Callum Grogan getting their chances later in the half.

Town pulled the score back with Andy Mangan and Tyrone Barnett on target but as it is with all pre-season games the important thing is getting the players match minutes out on the pitch.

Next up we taken on Cardiff City on Saturday 16th at the Greenhous Meadow with a 3pm kick-off.
