FULL-TIME: Shrewsbury Town 4-1 Port Vale

Ofori stepped up to fire in a low spot-kick to the right of centre, sending Callum Ferrie in the Port Vale goal the wrong way.

And Town finished the game off when susbtitute Ofori was tripped in the penalty area by the Valiants goalkeeper with nine minutes to go.

First-team professional Achille Campion shot low and just wide of the left post, and the visitors had a glorious opening when Chekaine Steele teed up Turner to tap in from close range but the latter skied his shot.

Port Vale, who got the second period underway, had chances inside the opening ten minutes of the restart. HALF-TIME: Shrewsbury Town 3-1 Port Vale

And the Valiants did get on the scoresheet when Turner went on a mazy run on the left, into the penalty area and shot high into the far top corner.

Vale looked to pull one back and Dan Turner chipped onto the roof of the net with only Ryan Sears on the goal line.

Hassall did get his and Town's third, however, in the 24th minute as he round the goalkeeper and shot low into an empty net.

It could have been three sooner than it was. Ethan Jones pulled the ball back from the left and McAtee approaching the edge of the box shot low and just wide of the left post with a first-time attempt.

Town then doubled their lead in the 18th minute with Hassall again the goalscorer as he fired in the rebound from close range after the Vale 'keeper had saved Jacob Rammell's shot.

However, the Shrews took the lead two minutes later when John McAtee sent a low ball across goal from the right, there was a mix-up in the Vale defence and Hassall tapped into an empty net.

Town got the game underway at Shrewsbury Sports Village and could have taken the lead in the second minute when Ethan Jones was played through on goal - he took the shot early from outside the box and the goalkeeper was there to save.

Midfielder James Wesolowski was not involved for Town as his training workload this week has been monitored and he has done enough. He will be involved in training as normal tomorrow.

Port Vale pulled a goal back through a solo effort from Dan Turner just before half-time, but substitute Tyrone Ofori finished the Valiants off with a late penalty.

The youth team striker was on hand to score three times in the opening 24 minutes in the clash at Shrewsbury Sports Village.

A quickfire hat-trick from George Hassall inspired Shrewsbury Town to a resounding victory over Port Vale in the Final Third Development League - West Division on Wednesday afternoon.
