Kyle Vassell On Doncaster Rovers Clash

Striker Looking To Start Firing In Goals

“That’s what the gaffer brought me here for, he knows what I’m like, he knows what I can do and that just me," said the striker.

"That’s what I try and do every game, I give 100 per cent every game.

“I can’t guarantee I’ll be unbelievable every game but I’ll give 100 per cent."

Kyle also explained how he thinks that it will be hard to keep a spot in the side and will have to stay on the top of his game in order to keep his shirt.

“Here, the boys are good strikers, I’m not saying that everywhere I’ve been haven’t been good strikers but here, they have a lot more experience than myself so they are a lot calmer,” said Vassell.

“Basically, I need to be on it every game if I want to stay in the team.”

Even so, Kyle’s performance on Tuesday night against Rochdale was deemed ‘terrorising’ by some and was even classed as an ‘old fashioned centre forward’ by manager Micky Mellon.

“It’s all good, as a striker, playing well giving a good performance for the team, but my career is generally being judged on goals so hopefully goals will come,” said Vassell.

“I’m not worried about it, I never do worry about it, I believe they will always come. I’m focused on winning games and playing well for the team.

“I’m a big believer in that it will come in its own time and that’s what it does. I was a late blossomer in non-league, I was even a late blossomer to get a scholarship as a young boy so there’s no rush.”

“I’m in my own time but I love to play football so hopefully I can keep doing that.”

And Vassell even thinks that there is more to come from him and that goals will come with time, hopefully starting against Doncaster.

Town travel to the Keepmoat Stadium in Sky Bet League 1 at the weekend (3pm kick-off) looking to build on the midweek victory over the Dale.

Striker Kyle Vassell was delighted to be involved against Rochdale on Tuesday night and can’t wait for Saturday's game at Doncaster Rovers.
