ITC Launch Centre In South Shropshire
Shrewsbury Town in the Community are delighted to announce the launch of a Girls Player Development Centre in South Shropshire for girls aged between 10 and 15 years.
As part of the FA Women's Football Week, Shrewsbury Town in the Community supported the Shropshire FA in delivering a fantastic girls football festival at the Ludlow Football Stadium last Wednesday with over 300 primary and secondary school girls attending.
Coupled with the fantastic news of the club being award Tier 3 Regional Talent Centre status for Elite Girls Football, the launch of the PDC will give female players in South Shropshire access to high quality coaching and a fixture programme against many other professional clubs in the UK.
Sessions will run for one hour on a Monday evening at the Ludlow Football Stadium from 5.30-6.30pm, starting on 6 June 2016 with girls of all abilities and experiences welcome.
Shrewsbury Town in the Community have also received the news that they have been successful in a funding application as part of the 'Sportivate' project which will allow them to deliver free coaching sessions to females in the 12-16 age bracket within South Shropshire Secondary Schools over the remaining months of the 2016 calendar year.
Steve Brotherwood, Shrewsbury Town in the Community's South Shropshire Community Hub development manager, said: "The potential for women's and girls’ football within South Shropshire is massive.
"The Sportivate funding will allow us to visit local schools to encourage girls to get into football and come and give it a go.
"We're excited to get up and running in a couple of weeks’ time and hope that we can play a key role in the development of Women's and Girls football in South Shropshire."
