Paul Hurst makes three changes to the side that started against Southend United last week, Jack Grimmer, Jim O'Brien and AJ Leitch-Smith come in for Dom Smith, Antoni Sarcevic and Ian Black who is suspended.

Barnet had a good early chance after a free-kick was drilled into the Town box, it dropped in the box and the Town defence couldn't clear, Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro tried the half volley but Leutwiler took control and was down quickly to palm it behind for a corner.

The first booking of the game came on the quarter hour mark and it was the visitors that it went to, Town looked to break quickly after defending a Barnet set-piece, the ball was with Jim O'Brien and he looked to break but Barnet skipper Michael Nelson stopped the break with a pull on O'Brien's shirt and it was a free-kick to Town and a booking for the Barnet man.

There was little in the way of goalscoring opportunities in the opening minutes and little in the way of attacking play.  Town were keeping possession well and were looking to move the ball and create, the first half decent shot on goal came on 22 minutes when Toney came deep to get the ball, he turned smartly and then drove forward before hitting a low drive from 30 yards out but Stephens was there to collect.

Town got their noses in front after 27 minutes and it started with Louis Dodds driving towards the Barnet goal and getting fouled by Vilhete on the edge of the box to earn a free-kick.  Jim O'Brien placed the ball and delivered a good looking shot that that Stephens pushed on to the bar, the rebound dropped to Mat Sadler and he made no mistake with a calm half volley smashed into the Barnet net to make it 1-0 to Town.

Town grabbed a second 5 minutes later and it came after Toney had moved out to the left, he got the ball and then turned Dembele before delivering an inviting cross into the box and there as AJ Leitch-Smith with a lovely deft header to turn it past Stephens for  2-0.

The goals saw Town's confidence rise and they were getting at the visitors and looked like they might add to the score.  There was good build up play and some neat passing that pulled the Barnet defence apart with chances for Toney, Leitch-Smith and Dodds but Barnet were doing enough to keep the scoreline at 2-0.

Half-time: 2-0

Barnet started the half  with a triple change of Ryan Watson, Luke Gambin and Justin Amaluzor on for Elliott Johnson, Tom Champion and Ben Tomlinson as Martin Allen ran the changes.

With just over a minute on the clock the ball dropped just inside the Town half, Ogogo challenged for the ball with Weston and the Barnet man went down, ref Toner was on the spot and blew for a Barnet free-kick and booked Ogogo.

Barnet were strong from the start of the half and were trying to get the ball forward quickly and directly as they looked to grab a goal back but Town were looking dangerous on the break.  A neat quick break saw Dodds bring the ball forward,  he played it to Toney who then fed to O'Brien in the box who held it up before driving a low cross across for Leitch-Smith but it was cut out before he could pounce.

It was was 3-0 to Town on 56-minutes and it came from a fantastic strike from Jack Grimmer, a Town attack was cleared by the Barnet defence but it dropped 25 yards from goal, Grimmer stepped up and hit a superb volley that flew into the top of the net giving Stephens no chance and giving Grimmer another memorable FA Cup goal.

Town were continuing to play the ball around nicely and were keeping possession well as they looked to maintain their lead.  Deegan and O'Brien combined well with a lovely ball to put O'Brien into space, he laid the ball off into the run of Brown who got in behind the Barnet defence before driving an inviting cross into the box.

On 82 minutes there was a welcome return to action for Shaun Whalley who had been missing for several weeks with a calf problem, with Shaun coming on to replace Louis Dodds.  With just over 6 minutes of the half remaining Paul Hurst made his second change with George Waring coming on to replace Ivan Toney in a straight swap.

Barnet had a chance late on after Dembele headed the ball back across to the far post to find Nelson, he headed the back across the Town goal but it hit the post and then rolled behind for a Town goalkick.

Town continued to push and the addition of Whalley had given Town that little bit of extra pace in the final third and he created a couple of good chances late on.

Full-time: 3-0
