Armed Forces Day

4 October 2016

Saturday's Armed Forces Day a great success

Shrewsbury Town fans didn’t let the rain spoil their day as Armed Forces Day proved a resounding success.

Members of the Royal Air Force, Navy and Army were all in attendance providing activities for supporters young and old.

An RAF Squirrel Helicopter was parked up at the back of the South Stand with fans able to sit in the cockpit. There was also a selection of old and new Army vehicles and military weapons on display.

A military band provided music before the game, playing live from the South Stand to entertain the crowd.

And the highlight of the day was once again the ball drop delivered by RAF Shawbury which wowed those in attendance.

Head of Community, Jamie Edwards, was delighted with how the day had gone.

“The Armed Forces day is always a special day in the calendar and it was again great to see fans interacting with the military despite the miserable weather. The partnership we have forged with the military is vital to the continued success of the football club.”
