Shrewsbury Town's Advanced Development Centre enjoy successful tournament
Tuesday 25th October saw Shrewsbury Town's U8 (South Shropshire) Advanced Development Centre travel to Malvern College take part in the U8 Advanced Development Centre Festival alongside seven other Premier League and Football League Clubs.Playing seven initial group games, STFC finished in top spot with a record of 5 victories, 1 draw and 1 defeat to a strong West Bromwich Albion (Worcester) team.
Having secured a semi final place for the knockout stages, we came up against West Bromwich Albion (Worcester) once more with the lads producing their finest performance of the day to run out 4-1 winners and secure a final against Derby County FC.
Both teams produced some fine football in a tense and tight affair, with Derby County eventually breaking down a stubborn salop team to run out 4-0 winners and lift the trophy.
Credit must go to all the teams from West Bromwich Albion (Worcester & Black Country), Derby County, York City, Queens Park Rangers, Cardiff City, Plymouth Argyle and Shrewsbury Town FC who provided a feast of football for the watching parents and supporters.
Steve Brotherwood, South Shropshire Regional Development Manager, said:
"It was a great experience for all the young players involved and a first opportunity for our young Shrewsbury Town FC players to test themselves against players from different clubs and backgrounds. Credit must be given to them for the way in which they conducted themselves and performances they showcased."
