Shrewsbury Town Reserves enjoyed a 1-0 victory over Mansfield Town this afternoon.
A goal from Sylvan Ebanks-Blake was enough to separate the sides in a solid performance.
In a game of few chances, Town went close in the first half through Andy Mangan, whose looping effort was cleared off the line.
Town then had goalkeeper Mark Halstead to thank for keeping the scores level at the break as he made a good save with his legs from Jack Marriott.
The game brightened up in the second half with Town having more of the ball and they took the lead on 54 minutes when Andy Mangan played a lovely through ball for Ebanks-Blake who slotted home with ease.
Callum Roberts could have added a second, but his powerful header was well saved by the Mansfield keeper. Ryan Sears also had a good chance from a corner but he couldn’t get the touch needed.
Town finished the game with all 10 outfield players being youth team scholars and they didn’t look out of place as Town comfortably saw out the last 10 minutes.
