Forward heads out on loan to Tranmere Rovers
Shrewsbury Town forward Ethan Jones has joined Vanarama National League side Tranmere Rovers on a youth loan until January.18 year old Ethan, made his Town debut on the final day of last season against Swindon Town.
He has gone onto make 5 appearances this season in all competitions, setting up the winner against Huddersfield Town in the EFL Cup.
Tranmere currently sit 3rd in the Vanarama National League and will allow Ethan an opportunity to play football at the top end of non-league football.
Manager Micky Mellon is hoping the move will help continue his development.
“I’m really pleased because that’s all the young ones out on loan now,” said Micky.
“It’s important that they get exposure to men’s football and playing at a real competitive level, feeling pressure, feeling that you have to get results at a big club like Tranmere, and having to perform under those conditions.
“It’s great for his development. It’s important that he gets that, because you don’t get that playing in reserve team football. You don’t get exposed to that expectation, crowd having a go at you, or the adulation if you do really well.
“It’s so important that young lads like Ethan learn how to operate under those conditions, it’s different to reserve team football and I’m sure that he’ll go up there and do really well.
“He has all the qualities that you want, but he needs to get more experience and it will be a win-win situation for everyone concerned.”
