NCS day a success

20 September 2016

Community promote National Citizen Service

Shrewsbury Town in the Community promoted their National Citizen Service programme at the game against Scunthorpe United on Saturday.

The NCS programme is aimed at teenagers between the ages of 15 and 17, and provides the chance to embark on exhilarating challenges, make your mark and build skills for work and life.

The players wore NCS t-shirts during their warm up and six NCS graduates walked out, in their t-shirts, with the players before kick-off.

There was also a bucket collection which raised £153.63.

Haylie Norton, NCS and Fundraising Coordinator was pleased with how the day had gone:
“The day was a great success not only for NCS awareness, where a number of supporters enquired about the programme and completed an expression of interest form, but also for Shrewsbury Town in the Community as the six NCS graduates who volunteered on the day managed to bucket collect £153.63.”

The smoothie bike was also in operation on Saturday and was very popular as a large number of supporters were encouraged to adopt a healthy lifestyle and enjoy a refreshing beverage before the game.
