CEO pleased by Paul Hurst's impact at Town

Shrewsbury Town’s CEO Brian Caldwell is excited by what the future could entail under Paul Hurst.

Hurst has enjoyed a successful first six months in the job, guiding Town out of the relegation zone after taking over a side sitting bottom of League One.

Brian has been pleased by Paul’s impact so far and is hopeful that Town can avoid relegation and push on.

“When you look at Paul’s record I think he is averaging 1.3 points per game from 29 games”,

“If you take that over the course of the season that would be 60-odd points, which would put us in the top-10 this season, so we are still paying for the early part of the season.

“I think everyone can see that there is a benefit in what Paul and Chris are trying to achieve. The squad has improve dramatically since the early part of the season and we’ve picked up a lot of points.

“Hopefully we can get enough points from the next couple of games and retain are League One status and then we are hopeful that Paul can continue his 1.3 average or even better and we can go onto greater things.”

Brian has been delighted by how the fans have responded to Paul since his appointment back in October and he is hopeful of a bright future both on and off the pitch.

“You can’t control what happens on the pitch”, said Brian.

“Paul can to a certain extent, but at the end of the day it’s sometimes down to the luck of the can. You only have to look at the decisions that have gone against us and these one or two points can make a big difference to your season.

“But, I think everybody is reacting. The fans are getting behind the players and shouting in support of Paul and it’s fantastic. Paul is here long term and we are hopeful that he can keep us in League One and go onto better things next season for the whole football club.”
