Youngsters look ahead to forthcoming season

Players and parents from across the schoolboy programme attended an event which was aimed at giving the parents an insight into the Academy programme.

Academy Manager Andy Jones discussed the Academy's long-term targets, whilst Head of Coaching Eric Ramsay gave an overview of the Academy coaching programmes and there were contributions from the Academy's sport science staff.

It was also an opportunity for the Academy to welcome the new U9s players as they make take their first steps on the Academy ladder this week.

With a busy programme ahead, Eric Ramsey was pleased to be able to get all the players together.

"It was a rare occasion on which we were able to gather all the schoolboy players and parents together and talk in detail about the programme", said Eric.

"I feel strongly that the parents are an absolutely essential asset in our development of their children as footballers and accordingly it's really important for them to understand the programme we deliver and the types of messages we try to provide.

"The U15/16 group's pre-season programme has closely matched the U18s' but this week we welcome back the U9-U14 bracket of the Academy.

"We've got a number of new part-time coaches starting this week and we're all really excited for the start of the schoolboy programme in full."

The Academy begin their programme with annual fixtures vs Wolves this Sunday.
