Shrewsbury Town winger Alex Rodman believes the squad are in a good place ahead of the first-round of the Carabao Cup.
Town take on Nottingham Forest this evening after starting their League One campaign with a late 1-0 victory over Northampton on Saturday.
“I feel good and I think that’s all to do with what we have in the tank”, Rodman said.
“There’s a lot of research now about Monday’s being more intense that they used to be in terms of recovery because the body adapts.
“We put a lot of time and effort into the gym work and the leg work and that should see us well for the next couple of weeks.”
Rodman has enjoyed cup success in the past, facing Manchester United in the last-16 when he was at Aldershot and he would love to do that well again.
“The cup is something we want to do well in”, admitted Alex.
“To draw a big team is nice, but just to challenge yourself against some good Championship teams or maybe a Premier League team is good.
“It’s a good chance to play against some players that you watch week in week out and if we draw one of the big teams it’s something to look back on at the end of your career.”
However, Rodman knows how difficult it will be and believes that Town will need to be at their best in order to get anything from the tie.
“What you can expect from us is a hard working performance”, said Rodman.
“I think every game this year there will be no shortage of effort and desire. It will be interesting to see how they set-up, but we will be going into it with the same attitude as Northampton.
“If we hit certain targets in our running and in our work ethic then more often than not I think we will be in a positive position come the final whistle.”
