Loan Update

29 August 2017

Our weekly look at how players are getting on away from the club

Town currently have four first team players away on-loan to various clubs.

Dom Smith, currently on-loan at Southport, had enjoyed an unbeaten start to the 2016/17 campaign. That was until they made the trip to face Salford City at the weekend, losing 2-1. Smith featured in the game playing a full 90 minutes. Southport face Darlington at home on Saturday.

Academy graduate Callum Roberts faced a trip to Jenner Park to face newly promoted Barry Town United at the weekend. He’s currently on loan at The New Saints and featured for the full 90 minutes as they recorded a 1-0 win. Roberts had a shout for a penalty in the 85th minute of the game after making a surging run into the box from the left. The referee on the day saw it as a dive though, showing Roberts a yellow card. Roberts has made two appearances so far this season completing the full 90 minutes in both games. TNS face Livingston at the Park Hall Stadium on Sunday.

Ryan Sears enjoyed 90 minutes as Newtown AFC recorded their first win of the season against Carmarthen Town. Newtown ran riot in the game winning 4-1 as Sears continues his development away from Town. Newtown face Barry Town United away on Saturday in a 2.30 kick off.

Shaun Rowley will be missed by Town this week after Dean Henderson’s England youth call-up. The youngster featured for loan side Tamworth at the weekend as they secured a 2-1 victory against Stockport County. Rowley enjoyed a full 90 minutes in the game after securing starts in all six of the Lambs opening league fixtures. He’ll be hopeful of a seventh successive start when his team travel east to play North Ferriby United on Saturday.
