The STFC Safe Standing crowdfunding campaign is live!

3 August 2017

Safe Standing is coming to Shrewsbury

This week saw the official launch of the long awaited Crowdfunding Campaign to create England’s first safe standing area in the Salop Leisure South Stand at Montgomery Waters Meadow.

In a pioneering move that puts Shrewsbury Town at the heart of the national interest for Safe Standing, CEO Brian Caldwell launched the Shrews’ campaign alongside representatives from STFC Supporters Parliament, The Football Supporters’ Federation and fanfunding specialists Tifosy.

Echoing the sentiments of many fans, Supporters Parliament Joint Chairman Roger Groves said of the campaign, “being able to stand in a proper standing area is something that many of our fans have missed in the 10 years since we moved from Gay Meadow, where over half the crowd used to stand. So there is great support now for our plan to introduce rail seating here to enable fans to stand safely”.

Seeking to raise £75,000, the crowdfunding campaign will enable Shrewsbury Town FC to make history as the first EFL club to install a safe standing section, and within hours of the launch, the campaign has already passed £7,000 with over 100 contributors.

Amazing rewards are available to campaign supporters: from having your name included in the Safe Standing Opening matchday programme or in the Supporters "Wall of Fame", to getting VIP tickets for the Grand Opening and even the chance to stand on the "Yellow Wall" at Borussia Dortmund.
