Abu Ogogo Pre MK Dons

Skipper looks ahead to MK Dons trip

Shrewsbury Town Captain Abu Ogogo admits it’s good to be back involved after his three game suspension.

Ogogo returned on Tuesday night in the Checkatrade Trophy after missing games against Bury, Bradford City and Morecambe because of the red card he received against Rotherham United.

Abu admitted it was good to get some minutes under his belt and is now raring to go for Saturday.

“It felt so good”, Ogogo said of Tuesday night.

“I was looking forward to the game because I felt like I’d been out for a while even though it’s only been two weeks. It was frustrating watching the boys and not being able to help them, so it was nice to be back.

“I was very excited. It’s the most frustrating thing sitting on the bench or sitting in the stands and watching the boys because you really want to be out there but you know you can’t, so it’s very exciting to be back out there.”

Town travel to MK Dons this weekend and Ogogo believes it’s important Town get back to winning ways in the league.

“The league is the most important thing”, said Abu.

“We need to get back to winning ways. We’ve lost three of the last four in the league, so we need to make sure that we get back to winning ways.

“I thought the Bradford performance was decent, we probably deserved to win that game, the Bury performance not so much and we probably deserved to lose that game, but we’ve got MK Dons to look forward to now.

“The Gaffer told us to take a lot positives out of the Bradford performance. The result obviously wasn’t there to match, but if we perform like that more times than not this season we will pick up more points”

MK Dons have enjoyed an up and down season to date, but Abu believes it will be a difficult game.

“I think they are a bit inconsistent, a bit up and down”, Ogogo continued.

“I think they like to pass the ball and the pitch is big, so that will suit our game, but it will be a tough game like every game in this league.”
