Godfrey looks ahead to Saturday's game against Southend

Shrewsbury Town midfielder Ben Godfrey is hopeful that Town can keep their current unbeaten run going when they travel to Southend tomorrow.

Town’s 0-0 draw with Wigan Athletic on Boxing Day extended their run to six games without defeat in all competitions and was a positive result on the back of two home wins.

Town performed superbly to secure a point on Boxing Day, but Godfrey wants Town to move on quickly and concentrate on Southend.

“The characters that we have got here are highly professional”, said Ben.

“The game has gone against Wigan and we are looking forward to Southend now. It’s another three points that we will be trying to get and it’s going to be a tough game

“No game is easy but this is a massive game for us and we will approach it in the right manner as always.

“With the lads we’ve got, and the staff, it just comes naturally for us to stay professional, so we will be focussed and we will be ready as well.”

Earlier in the season, Town battled past Southend with a 1-0 win thanks to a Jon Nolan goal and Ben remembers them as a hard side to break down.

“They are organised and they work hard”, said Godfrey.

“They’ve got some experienced players in there, particularly at the back, so they will be hard to break down, but it will be a good game.

“I’ve said before that everyone you are going to play is going to be tough, so we’ve got to be on our game and it’s going to be a good one.”
