Godfrey Extended

28 December 2017

Ben stays with Town until the end of the season

Shrewsbury Town are delighted to announce that Norwich City have agreed to Ben Godfrey’s loan spell being extended with Town until the end of the season.

Ben joined Town near to the end of the transfer window and made his debut in the 1-1 draw away to Oxford United on Saturday 26th August.

Godfrey has gone on to make 24 appearances so far in all competitions for Town and he’s delighted to have signed until the end of the campaign.

“I’m really happy”, said Ben.

“We’ve obviously started the season really well and hopefully I can continue to learn and be part of something special.

“I’m learning, which is important, but I am enjoying it as well, which is massive in football, especially for a young lad.

“A lot of young lads can find themselves not doing a lot really, whether it is Under-23s football or just being part of the squad, so me playing 24 games is something I can’t take for granted and I’m loving it.”

Norwich have been keeping a close eye on Ben during his loan-spell and the 19-year-old revealed that they are pleased with the experience he is getting at Shrewsbury.

“They are really happy with my progress”, said Godfrey.

“They just want me to stick at it, continue to learn, pick up bits and pieces from members of staff here and then come back in the summer ready for that Championship level.

“Norwich trust everyone here to kick me onto the next level, so they are satisfied with the coaching that I’m getting here and the experience as well, so it’s all good.”
