Defenders thoughts after point gained at high flying Wigan

Shrewsbury Town Defender James Bolton was delighted with Town's hard earned point against Wigan Athletic.

Bolton was part of a fantastic defensive display as Town kept their second clean sheet this season against Wigan.

The result means that Town have taken four points from games against Wigan this season and James praised his teammates efforts.

"It was brilliant", said Bolton.

"We knew we had a tough game on our hands but the spirit the lads have got and the togetherness, knew we could get something from the game and we did.

"They were coming into this game flying and full of confidence but nullified that a little bit and things didn't come off for them, so that frustrated them."

Jon Nolan had Town's best chance of taking all three points but Bolton was happy enough with a point.

"I was right behind it and it was so slow”, James said of Nolan's chance.

“I thought it was going in, but it wasn't to be and we are happy with a point.

"To get four points from these two games is really good. We were favourites to go down and they were favourites to go up, so to take four points off them is brilliant."

Over 1,300 Town fans made the trip to the DW Stadium and James praised the fans for their support.

"It gives you a nice little buzz”, said Bolton.

"You hear them during the game, after the game and even before the game when you are warming up. You feel the atmosphere building at it gives you a little kick to go on."

Today’s game marked the halfway point in the League One season and Bolton is pleased with how it’s gone.

“We’ve dropped a few points that we shouldn’t have by being sloppy, so it could have been even better, but we will take the situation we are in now.”
