Loan Update

27 February 2017

Take a look at how our players are getting on away from the club

With six Town players now out on loan there was plenty of games to keep an eye on over the weekend.

Callum Burton made his AFC Telford United debut on Saturday as they were beaten 2-1 by Salford City. Salford, who are partly owned by Manchester United’s famous class of ’92, currently sit third in the National League North, but Telford took the lead on 12 minutes through Lee Hughes. However, Burton was beaten twice within four second half minutes as Salford took the spoils.

Ethan Jones was on the scoresheet for Stourbridge as they beat Whitby 3-1 to haul themselves up to second in the league. Whitby had taken the lead in the first half, but Stourbridge went 2-1 ahead before Jones sealed it with a fine strike from the edge of the box after Whitby had failed to clear a corner.

Kaiman Anderson played just over 60 minutes for Oxford City on Saturday. The young striker left the pitch with the score at nil-nil and Dartford scored their opener just two minutes after Kaiman was substituted. However, City did manage to get themselves level in the 91st minute when Ezra Forde smashed in an equaliser just 10 minutes into his debut.

Youth team left back Callum Roberts started Hednesford’s 2-1 defeat to Nantwich on Saturday. Hednesford had taken the lead in the third minute through Danny Glover, but Nantwich hit back to take the win.

Meanwhile, Jim O’Brien came on as a 75th minute substitute against Aberdeen on Saturday. Ross County were already one-nil down when Jim came on and the Scottish midfielder didn’t manage to make the difference.

Finally, Skelmersdale United’s game with Sutton Coldfield was called off due to a waterlogged pitch, meaning Callum Grogan didn’t see any game time this weekend.
