Town's Hospitality team using local suppliers

James Motley is Shrewsbury Town’s Hospitality Manager and he spoke to ShrewsWeb about the relationships his hospitality team have created with suppliers.

James told ShrewsWeb: “I’m really focussed on using local suppliers.

“If they’re local we get that flexibility. So if a client turns around and says to us ‘I want to add this on to my order,’ if the supplier is local we can sort it.

“And it’s not just about us - it’s about other local businesses as well. We are all here to try and work together.”

Shrewsbury Town’s hospitality team use local suppliers for fruit, vegetables and meat. For alcohol the team also try to use local suppliers – for ale Town use Wood Brewery, for wine they use Tanners Wines, though for beer they use Molson Coors.

“We obviously use some national companies but when we can we use local suppliers.

“For the size of concern we are, we need to use these big companies – and they’ve allowed us to introduce draft products into the away stand on match days.

“Wood provides all of our local ale, which is great because we can swap and change what we need for match days and for hospitality events.”

Having suppliers such as Tanners and Wood Brewery means James is able to source products from them at late notice, which is ideal.

“Over Christmas we had a few added extras and the suppliers were able to help us out.

“When the suppliers are local we can have a relationship where we help each other out and it works for us and it works for them.”
