Conferences bring local and national clients to Shrewsbury Town
James Motley is Shrewsbury Town’s Hospitality Manager and he spoke to ShrewsWeb about the conference service that the hospitality team offer.James told ShrewsWeb: “We’re always busy hosting conferences and meetings – for example today the Sovereign Suite is full, which gives an indication of the business we’re doing.
“This conference will be here all day. They’re got the Sovereign Suite and several other syndicate rooms – which are the executive boxes.”
James admitted that he was a little surprised with the amount of national clients the club already had when he started his role.
He said: “We do a lot of work with big national companies - which is great for us here in Shrewsbury because it brings the big national companies into the town.
“Whether they then use other venues for their accommodation, if they then do things out of the time of their conference – it’s great we’re bringing people to the whole of Shrewsbury.”
Though it is not only national companies which Shrewsbury Town cater for – as there are a number of local clients too.
“The amount of business we’re doing with local businesses on the conference front is exceptional.”
The type of conferences which the team host vary greatly, from product launches and planning application meetings to the more regular council meetings and education board meetings.
Amongst Shrewsbury Town’s clients are: Nuffield Hospital, British Gas and Shropshire Council.
“The businesses we have here – I am very grateful for, for spending their time here with us.
“We try and take on board what different things they want, and if it’s something we can provide – we’ll do it for them.”
