Shrewsbury Town in the Community to host February Festival of Football in Ludlow


Shrewsbury Town in the Community are set to welcome 500+ young footballers to the Ludlow Football Stadium on Friday 24th February to take part in a Development Centre Football Festival.

Development Centres are set up by clubs across the country to give talented and gifted players the opportunity to access high quality professional coaching and possibly progress further up the ladder into academy football and beyond. Shrewsbury Town currently run two Advanced Development Centres, one of which is located in South Shropshire.

A total of 10 clubs competing across four age groups from U8-U11 with fellow EFL Clubs Derby County, Cardiff City, Newport County and Birmingham City all travelling to take part. Premier League West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City will also be in attendance alongside Welsh Premier League Newtown. National League AFC Telford and AFC Wrexham complete the line up.

The Festival will celebrate the official launch of the Ludlow Football Stadium Partnership with Shrewsbury Town in the Community becoming the official tenants of the Stadium and becoming responsible for the general running of the site on a long term lease.

STITC are looking for willing volunteers who are able to assist with the smooth running of the Event. Volunteers must be at least 14 Years of Age with a number of roles on offer including Match Referees, Car Parking Marshalls, Turnstile Staff and Funzone Assistants.
