Striker Freddie Ladapo signs on loan

Shrewsbury Town have signed Crystal Palace Striker Freddie Ladapo on a 6 month loan deal.

Ladapo first came to Paul Hurst’s attention whilst playing for Margate, but he subsequently joined Palace after a successful trial period.

He has spent the first half of the season with League One side Oldham and is now hoping to make his mark for Shrewsbury.

“It was an easy decision to come here”, Freddie told ShrewsWeb.

“I’ve known the manager for a little while now and I’ve known he’s been chasing me and liking me, so it was finally time to meet him.

“When I was playing for Margate and he was at Grimsby I nearly signed for them on deadline day, but in the end it didn’t happen.

“I heard of the interest when the manager first got appointed by Shrewsbury and then when I was going back to Palace they said that they would be interested.”

Ladapo made 22 appearances for Oldham this season scoring three goals and he is hopeful that that experience will stand him in good stead.

“Hopefully the experience I have gained from Oldham will help me do well at Shrewsbury”, said Ladapo.

“It looks like a good club with good people and hopefully we can turn around and get some good wins.

“There’s only one point separating us from getting out of the relegation spot, so it’s not that hard to get out of it, but we need to get a win and everyone is looking for that win.

“I know Sullay Kaikai very well and he’s told me great things about the club so hopefully I can re-enact what he’s already done.”
