A late Chesterfield goal denied Town all three points in their Central League Cup Fixture on Tuesday.
Town had the best of an even first half with Chesterfield goalkeeper Brad Jones making a string of good saves to deny Town.
However, Shrewsbury came out of the blocks quickly in the second half and opened the scoring on 55 minutes when Kaiman Anderson lashed home from the edge of the box.
Town then doubled their advantage two minutes later when strike partner Ethan Jones finished off a well worked move.
Town hit the woodwork three times in the game and they were made to rue those misses when Chesterfield got one back with 12 minutes to play from the penalty spot.
And they completed their comeback in the 90th minute when they scored from a goalmouth scramble.
