Reserves travel to Notts County

10 January 2017

Young Reserve side set to take on Notts County at Meadow Lane later today

Town’s reserves travel to Nottingham today to take on Notts County reserves in the Central League Cup.

Town have won both their two previous Central League Cup fixtures this season, beating Nottingham Forest Reserves and Mansfield Reserves 1-0.

The game had been set to take place back in December but was rearranged after both sides were involved in the FA Cup.

Town’s selection is somewhat hampered as the Youth Team play versus Sunderland in the FA Youth Cup tomorrow evening

First Team Manager Paul Hurst spoke to the press ahead of the match:

“It’ll be a very, very young side,” Hurst said.

“Some scholars and the lads who won’t be starting in the youth cup will make up the side.

“When I think we first pencilled that game in, it wasn’t with that youth team game there, so it’s not ideal.

“We can’t afford to lose any more players, if any first teamers were to get injured – we’re really struggling.

“We’ve got to protect ourselves and hopefully next time a game comes round, we’ll be in a better position.”

The game will kick off at 1pm at Meadow Lane.
