Young Norwich Striker Carlton Morris joins on a season-long loan deal

11 July 2017

Shrewsbury Town are pleased to announce the signing of Carlton Morris on a season-long loan deal.

Morris is a 21 year old striker and joins on loan from Norwich City, where he came through the Academy.

This will be Carlton’s fifth spell away from Carrow Road and he admitted that it was an easy decision to join Town.

“I’m at a point in my career where I need to get games, get goals and really kick-on”, Carlton told ShrewsWeb.

“I see a club that are having a real go this season and hopefully we can come together and have a successful this season.

“I like the manager’s philosophy and I’ve heard good things about the Town, the area and the football club from colleagues at Norwich.

“When I first heard about the interest I had a word with Ebou (Adams) and he sung the praises of the club since he’s started here and about how quickly he’s settled in, so it wasn’t a hard decision in the end.”

Carlton has spent time on loan in both the Championship and Scottish Premiership and now wants to make his mark at Shrewsbury.

“I just want to come here and play well and make sure the gaffer’s happy with me”, said Morris.

“Hopefully I can play well, get goals and get this team as far up the table as possible. I like to run in behind, but I can also hold the ball up and link play, but I always try and get in the box.

“I’ve been around a bit, but that’s part and parcel of the game you have to move around and make a name for yourself, particularly at the age I am.”

Carlton has been with Norwich since the age of 11 and believes his grounding there will stand him in good stead.

“They’ve told me to come here and show people what I can do, said Carlton.

“Hopefully I can make a bit of a name for myself and then I can go back to my parent club one day and push for a starting place there.

“Norwich is such a big club and clubs look to take players from clubs like Norwich, which I am thankful for. It has been a good base for me and now I need to kick-on.”
