New striker Lenell John-Lewis talks about the pre-season camp in Portugal

Shrewsbury Town’s new striker Lenell John-Lewis believes he is feeling the benefits of Town’s warm weather training camp in Portugal.

The squad have been training three times a day since they arrived last Sunday, with temperatures regularly topping 30 degrees.

John-Lewis, a summer signing from Newport County, only returned from a long-term knee injury at the backend of last season and he feels as if the hard work is paying off.

“It’s been good”, Lenell said.

“It’s been tough, very tough, but it’s nice to be with the lads and I’m getting to know them a lot better and getting down to the hard work.

“The bodies feeling a little bit tired, but I’m feeling a little bit rejuvenated in a way and it’s nice to get the miles in my legs and the minutes on the training ground.”

Lenell has been described as a ‘unit’ by Town defender Mat Sadler, but he believes he is just one of many powerful players at the club this season.

“I like to be a bit of a powerhouse”, said John-Lewis.

“I try to bully defenders on the pitch but, I think this season, from seeing training and the work in the gym, I think there’s going to be a lot of units in the team and I think we will be a strong team definitely.”
