Town away to Nottingham Forest in the cup
Shrewsbury Town have been handed an away draw at Nottingham Forest in the first round of the Carabao Cup.
The draw took place in Bangkok earlier today and the two names were the first out of the hat in the Northern draw of the competition.
The game is set to be played in the week commencing 7th August and we will bring you the full details when they are confirmed.
It is a competition that Town have down well in and manger Paul Hurst is looking forward to the game.
“It will be a tough game but when you looked at the seeding’s that were in place you knew it would be no matter what”, said Paul.
“It’s away from home and against a big club but it will be a game I’m sure the players will look forward to and we will see how we get on there.
“It’s a nice game for Chris Doig to go back to his former club, we know a couple people over at Forest and we had Ryan Yates on loan from them last season.
“The Carabao Cup comes round really quickly and over recent years teams from lower down beat teams from higher up.
“Last season I took my previous club to Derby County, in the end we lost the game 1-0 but we did pretty well.”
Town have had some memorable nights in the Carabao Cup in recent years. It is a competition that has given Town fans some good memories and they manager is sure the fans will enjoy the trip to the City Ground.
“I’m sure we will take a few supporters across to Nottingham and from that point of view it’s a big ground and a club that is steeped in history”, said Paul.
“I’m sure they will be looking to have a better season than at they had last.
“No matter what side they put out it we know it will be a tough game “
