A hard week in Portugal awaits the squad
Town will travel out for a training camp in Portugal early into their pre-season programme.
It will give Paul Hurst’s new look squad the chance to get in some real hard work with several sessions per day in the sunshine.
The trip will also give the squad a chance to get to know each other and help improve the bond and team spirit within the squad.
Assistant manager Chris Doigy is looking forward to getting away and hoping that a lot of the squad will be in place by then.
“If we can get a large part of the squad assembled there could be a lot of new faces and to get a trip away where they are together 24/7 is vital in the lads getting to know each other”, said Chris.
“That’s important in getting a bond together and creating a team spirit which is a massive part of pre-season if I am honest.
“It can get a little bit stale sometimes coming to the same place all the time so a change of scenery and getting them away together can only do good things.”
The trip will be about getting away and getting down to the hard work on the training field. The trip has been planned for several months and now it’s about putting that plan into action.
“It will be hard work for the lads but I’m hoping I’ll get a bit of time on the sunbed”, said Chris.
“No, it’s a lot of hard work which has been planned out to the day.
“All of pre-season has been planned now for a couple of months with myself, Skitty, Hodgy and George have all sat down and worked everything out.
“It was always our plan to get away and this will be the real hard week because we have got the opportunity to do that.
“We are with them all day and have the facilities to give them a real good blast and get them into shape.
“We will also get the chance to work on a lot of things tactically and I’m looking forward to it and I think the lads will get a lot of benefit from it.”
