Early Training Signs Good

25 June 2017

Good sessions up at Sundorne Castle on Friday and Saturday

The players have been back at the Sundorne Castle training ground since Friday and the early signs are good.

Players have been getting used to their new surroundings with changing rooms, canteen and brand new gym being the areas in use the most.

Things get underway mid morning with sessions in the gym before going out onto the grass. There’s then a break for lunch before an afternoon out on the grass with the footballs.

New faces Arthur Gnahoua, Lenell John-Lewis and Jon Nolan have been getting to know their new teammates. Youngsters Ryan Sears, Callum Roberts, George Hughes, Chris Gallagher and John McAtee have started their first pre-season as professional players and a few of the promising youth team players have also joined in.

Town manager Paul Hurst has been pleased with what he has seen in training so far.

“We had a quick chat with them and laid out a few expectations,” said Paul.

“We got the footballs out and it was pretty basic but finished on a bit of running which I always like.

“Straight away you see the lads that are athletes and then you see attitudes to it too.

“It’ll be interesting to see what data we get back on that but your eyes don’t fool you.

“We had lads pushing each other out there.

“I think the players enjoyed being back in. It’s kind of like you don’t want it to come around and then it’s a hell of a lot better, there’s a nice new training facility to look at.”
