Management team finish summer away on course

Town manger Paul Hurst and Assistant Manager Chris Doig are finishing their summer break with a week away on a course.

With pre-season training set to start on Friday 23rd the pair are away for the week on the LMA’s Football Management course.

It’s something they have had planned for a while and something which they hope will continue their development.

“Chris Doig and myself are doing the Diploma in Football Management through the LMA”, said Paul.

“It’s been a couple of seasons since I completed my A Licence and due to time constraints and playoffs I haven’t been able to do anything but this year we have a little bit more time.

“We have five days away on the course and then come in the next day for pre-season training.

“It is a busy time of the season but I want to develop and I know there are things that I can learn to hopefully make me better at my job so I’m looking forward to it.”

It will be another course where they pair can learn and continue to develop their managerial skills, and give them knowledge that they can put into practice with Shrewsbury Town.

“That’s the aim, I want to be successful and you can always learn”, said Paul.

“I watch a lot of sport and take things from other sports, listen to experienced people and learn from them.

“I’m in the middle of reading a book at the moment which is all about managers experiences, and I haven’t been through what they have but a lot of it you can relate to.

“The problems you have, the feelings that you go through so you use all this to help you learn.

“Hopefully all that makes you a better manager but more importantly a better person.”
