Caldwell on crowd increase

CEO pleased to hit the 6000 mark

Shrewsbury Town Chief Executive Brian Caldwell is delighted that ticket sales reached 6000 against Coventry City.

Town have been in fine form at home of late and recent offers have helped crowds gradually increase over recent weeks.

Saturday’s game saw the crowd swell to its highest figure this season and Brian is pleased with how the fans are responding to Paul Hurst’s side.

“We are delighted”, said Brian.

“We are hopeful that the people who took up the offer for the two games prior to the Charlton game came along again.

“Sadly the football wasn’t quite as entertaining as it has been over recent weeks, but we hope that a lot of the supporters who came on Saturday, to get us over the 6000 mark, will come again.

“We did the offer for the Bury and the Wimbledon games to try and encourage some supporters back. We’ve tried to market it better. We are also putting posters up in the Town and extending that out of Shrewsbury to encourage more people to come.

“People say there is a problem with transport, but if we can educate people and make them realise that the buses are coming from Telford, Wem, Oswestry and the Town Centre then we are hopeful that people can come along, hopefully support the club and see the turnaround in performances.

“The place was bouncing on Tuesday night against Charlton in the 4-3 and you can’t ask for a more entertaining game than that.

“Since Paul’s come in you can see the difference in the way the players are reacting to the crowd. The crowd are really getting behind the team because of the level of performances improving, the hard work that has gone into it on the pitch and they are reacting to that.

“The atmosphere is probably better than it has been in a while because everyone is excited about the future, so hopefully that can continue moving forward.”

The club have once again frozen Season Ticket prices for the 2017/18 season meaning that an adult ticket works out at just over £12 a game.

Season tickets are now on sale from the ticket office at the Greenhous Meadow, over the phone on 01743 273943 or online https://www.eticketing.co.uk/shrewsburytownfc/
