Paul Hurst makes five changes from the side that drew at home to Coventry City last week. Joe Riley, Adam El-Abd, Bryn Morris, Alex Rodman and Freddie Ladapo come in for Jack Grimmer, Junior Brown, Ryan Yates, Stephen Humphrys and Louis Dodds
Town got off to a great start and were in front with just under 3 minutes on the clock, it started after Deegan lost the ball but showed great determination to win the ball back and then play it to Ladapo on the edge of the box, he turned his marker and shot, Stuckmann got down to save but couldn't hang on and there was Tyler Roberts to turn the ball home from close range.
Town had a free-kick around 25 yards from goal, Bryn Morris curled it towards the top corner but Stuckmann was there with a good save.
At the other end Chesterfield were trying to get at the Town defence and a ball through the middle found Dennis in on goal but Leutwiler was out quickly and down to smoother the ball.
Chesterfield were awarded a free-kick after Riley was adjudged to have fouled Mitchell, the ball was curled into the danger are but Leutwiler was out and dived in bravely to punch the ball away, he took a knock from Ebanks-Blake and stayed down. The game was stopped so Leutwiler could receive treatment and after around 5 minutes he was back on his feet and the game was restarted.
Then Town had to defend they were putting in the hard work that was needed, a ball down the left saw Gardner trying to use his pace to get in, Nsiala came across and then did really well to shield the ball out for a Town goalkick.
Town had a great chance for a second after Roberts played Whalley in on goal, he found space in the box and then turned his marker before firing in a shot that beat Stuckmann but the post was there to deny Whalley a goal.
Town had a free-kick out on the left of the Chesterfield goal, Whalley delivered a great ball into the back post to find Nsiala in space but he put his shot wide of the Chesterfield goal.
Town had a good opening just over the half hour mark with Whalley broke down the right and turned his marker inside and then out, he got in behind the Chesterfield defence and played a one two with Rodman to set him up for a shot, it looked to be goal bound but seemed to hit Ladapo and the chance was gone.
The first booking of the game went to Town after Aristote Nsiala made a mistimed challenge just inside the Town half.
Chesterfield were back on level terms just before the break and it came from a set-piece, the corner was taken short and then played back to Gardner who swung in a cross into the danger area and there was Evatt to turn the ball home from close range to make it 1-1.
With the half-time whistle approaching Town had another good chance after good work between Riley and Whalley ended with Whalley bursting in the box before curling in a good shot on goal but again Stuckmann was there to deny Town .
Town started the half well and were seeing a lot of the ball in Chesterfield's final third to put the pressure back on the home side, the finishing was a little wayward though with Morris, Ladapo and Roberts all firing their efforts wide of the target.
Town were looking to counter attack and the ball was switched to the left for Riley, he burst over the halfway and was blocked off to stop the break, it was a free-kick for Town but ref Haines saw nothing that needed him to produce a card.
Chesterfield were looking to attack when they could and then the ball found a player in space in the box he looked to get in round he back, Leutwiler was out quickly and once again was down bravely to do enough to see the ball go behind for a Town goal-kick.
Town were pushing and the ball found Ladapo just outside the Chesterfield box, he found the space to get in a good low shot but again Stuckmann was there to deny Tow .
Riley looked to have done enough to see the ball out for a throw after challenging with Mitchell but the officials didn't see it that way and play carried on resulting in a corner for the home side. The ball was swung into the Town box and El-Abd got a head to it but the ball looped up and back towards the Town goal, Leutwiler went to punch but was bundled into the Town net and the ref was blowing for a free-kick.
Paul Hurst made his first changes of the afternoon on 78 minutes bringing on Louis Dodds and Stephen Humphrys to replace Freddie Ladapo and goalscorer Tyler Roberts.
The addition of Humphrys and Dodds was making an impact with Humphrys using his strength well to cause problems for the Chesterfield defence and Dodds getting into some good positions and getting in a couple of good efforts.
Town looked to have nicked it as the end of the half approached after a good break down the right with Whalley, he got pasts the defender and delivered a lovely ball into the box to find Humphrys, he got a great downward header in on goal but it was straight at Stuckmann and the Chesterfield was again there to deny Town.
Town were still pushing for the win and when Humphrys got the ball midway through the Chesterfield half and he ran for goal, he showed great strength to hold off the challenges and into the box, he then hit a good looking shot across goal but Stuckmann was yet again there to deny Town and keep Chesterfield in the game.
In the end it was another important point for Town but it could have been more if Stuckmann hadn't been on top of this game.
