Loan Update

6 March 2017

Take a look at how players are getting on away from the club

With two players extending their loan deals this week we continue to have six players plying their trade elsewhere.

Ethan Jones was one of those who extended for a further month this week and he was involved in a crazy game for the Glassboys on Saturday. There were six goals in the first 26 minutes at the War Memorial Athletic Ground with Jones getting the sixth and Stourbridge’s fourth against Matlock Town. There was still time for one more goal before the break, but the second half was a quieter affair as only one goal was scored with the game finishing 5-3 to promotion chasing Stourbridge.

Callum Grogan had also extended his loan deal this week as he looks to get minutes at the Evo-Stick Northern Premier Division’s bottom club, but his afternoon was slightly less exciting as struggling Skelmersdale United were comfortably beaten 3-0 by Corby Town.

It was the same scoreline for Kaiman Anderson’s Oxford City as they were beaten 3-0 by Weston-Super-Mare. Anderson started the game, but was part of a triple change on 63 minutes with Oxford already losing 2-0.

Perhaps the star of the weekend was Callum Burton as he kept a clean sheet in AFC Telford United’s 1-0 win over Altringham. Telford were taking on the National League North’s bottom side, but Burton was kept busy and made a number of fine saves to keep the Bucks in the game. Telford finally took the lead against the run of play when former Town man Dave Hibbert scored in the 87th minute. After the game Telford boss Rob Smith was quick to praise the Town ‘keeper.

Finally, Jim O’Brien and Callum Roberts didn’t see any match action this weekend. O’Brien’s Ross County side weren’t in action as the Scottish Cup took centre stage north of the border and Roberts wasn’t part of the Hednesford side which won 1-0 against Frickley Athletic.
