Shrewsbury Town in the Community looking for a Learning Disability Support Working

Shrewsbury Town in the Community are looking to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Disability Support Worker for the summer of 2017.

Reporting to the Education Manager and NCS Coordinator, you will be responsible for supporting a young person with their goals based within their local community and surrounding areas this summer.

Activities of support vary from daily living skills, personal care, travel escorts, teaching of independent life skills to assistance with accessing community based activities such as going to an adventure site (PGL) and social and leisure activities.

Successful candidates must have a minimum of 6 months of experience supporting young adults with learning disabilities such as down syndrome. The successful candidate will be required to spend eight nights on residential with the young person along with eight activity non-residential days.

Flexibility is essential as some weekends and evening work may be essential. Working hours will vary depending on the young person’s need each day.

There will be two weeks of residential (Monday to Friday) and then eight active days in the summer of 2017. Terms and conditions of employment are as per your employment contract and staff handbook.

Carers are expected to arrive on time throughout the NCS programme. There may be opportunities for additional hours in other services within Shrewsbury Town in the Community.
