Rowley Signs New Deal

Young 'Keeper Shaun Rowley signs for another year

30 May 2017

Shrewsbury Town are pleased to announce that young Goalkeeper Shaun Rowley has signed a new one-year deal with the club.

20-year-old Rowley graduated through the Academy and his one year deal will be his third season as a professional with Shrewsbury Town.

Shaun is highly thought of at Town and was pleased to sign a new deal.

“I’ve enjoyed all my time here, so another year should be good for me”, Shaun told ShrewsWeb.

“I’m just 20 so it’s still very early in my career and I learn a lot form Coyney every day, so I think it’s good for me to get another year.

“Danny’s (Coyne) been massive for me since I’ve been here. He’s got me a couple of loans and from training with him every day I have learnt so much from him. I’ve got a good relationship with him and he’s massive for me.”

Shaun enjoyed two good loan spells with Chorley and Slough Town last season and he is hoping he can take those experiences forward.

“I think my best football was last year”, Rowley admitted.

“Chorley especially was massive. I got 20-25 games last year of men’s football, so that’s really good for me in terms of developing both physically and with match experience and scenarios.

“I don’t know what this year will hold, but whatever it is I will go full out again. I’m still young, so all experiences are good for me and good for my career, so I’m happy.”

Despite being young, Shaun is determined to prove himself at Shrewsbury and will be doing all he can to be involved with the matchday squad.

“I feel good now”, said Shaun.

“I feel physically better than what I was two years ago. I feel more confident, so whatever happens happens. I will be pushing whoever is here next year and I’m ready for it.

“When you turn 20 you feel like you have to push on now. You’ve got to stand out in training, you’ve got to really push and give the manager a tough decision, so I’m just going to do that every day next year and see what happens.”
