Shrewsbury Town’s Academy Manager, Eric Ramsay, has spoken of his disappointed after Town’s Under-18s were disqualified from the FA Youth Cup.
On Friday, an FA Panel decided to throw Town out of the competition after fielding an ineligible player in the First Round against Evesham United.
“First and foremost I'm really disappointed for the players and staff in the changing room that aren't going to have the opportunity to go and play a game that they earnt on the back of a really good first round performance against Evesham”, Ramsay told ShrewsWeb.
“I feel a bit let down because from my perspective the club have followed the correct protocol in ironing out player eligibility for the competition and I feel as though we haven't been given the support we needed at the time it really counts.
“I feel immensely disappointed, more so for the players, but for the club as a whole because Tuesday could have been a really good occasion. It's an opportunity for our players to really show what they are worth in front of the first-team manager on a really big stage and they have been denied that opportunity through bureaucracy more than anything and that is immensely disappointing.”
